I was fortunate enough to be in the audience then in 2005, and this was only one of so many incredible matches, often going on at the same time on different mats for two straight days in a row. I think I must have strained my neck from so frequently swiveling left and right for hour after hour trying hard not to miss any of the action on the different mats. :) Those competing there then, a limited number of the selected and invited best grapplers from around the world, were competing in what was then the highest pure grappling payday of ever, first in their own weight division, and later if they wanted, also in this open weight division, like these two did. I don't want to spoil the results for anyone, intent on finding the second part of this match, so if that's you, stop reading my post right here and now. The tape for that whole competition, if not here, must be around somewhere. For those who really just want to know what the result of this particular match was, Marcelo went on to defeat Ricco.

Prof Marcelo, the two first movement are great, the third one is not happens when I practice with experts, the reason are, if you want do a raspagem from recovery position should have 3 base or apoio on ground, otherwise the opponent use my strength to rotate me again and come back in the same position. So, the left hand on the leg should goes to the ground and try to come on the top, why he is still holding the leg?Second I avoid to come up inside a possibility of a half guard. perfect! I was searching for a way to block out the de la riva and not only did marcelo anwser my question (part 2) . He went into detail on how to keep countering and eventually gaining side mount . Had to keep replyaing this like 3 times at half transitions 😂
